Ajay Vikram's batting lead Cawnpore Colts to win in Kanpur's Premire club cricket competetion

This post is about a match played between Cawnpore colts and IIT Campus team at IIT Campus ground. It was the match of JSA league which is Kanpur's Premire club cricket competetion. It was Cawnpore Colts's second match in the league phase. Lets see what young players have done in the match.

It was a cloudy saturday in Kanpur and the second round match of JSA league between Cawnpore colts against IIT Campus at IIT Campus ground took place. IIT Campus won the toss and elected to field first in bowling friendly conditions. The pitch was wet, Green and weather was cloudy. No team would have liked to bat first. Cawnpore Colts openers Amit dixit and Ajay Vikram Singh walked into the middle against a formidable Bowling attack of IIT Campus. The bowlers done their job soo well as they removed Amit Dixit in very 3rd over for just 6. Sudeep Kumar too got out soon after for 2 and colts were struggling at 2 for 19 in 9th over. Then came in was Colts skipper Deepak Kumar. On the other hand Ajay Vikram was fighting bravely. These two put on a partenership of 76 Runs in next 25 overs but then Deepak lost his patient and tried to loft one over covers, threw his wicket. Then came in was Shagun Chauhan. he smashed few beautyfull shots. he and Ajay carried on but at the end of 37th over Ajay lost his patient too and pulled one in the air. although shot was good but was beautifully caught in the deep.Ajay Vikram departed for a well fought 46 of 106 balls. Adarsh came in as the replacement of Ajay. Adarsh 31 and Shagun 29 took colts to a respectable total of 158 in 43.5 overs. The target of 159 on boards looked easy but actually in those conditions that was tough. Colts strength was their bowling and they proved it again. IIT got a blow in very first over by Kaushlendra as skipper Tarun got out for a duck. none of IIT batsmen survived infront of colts bowlers. soon IIT were 76 for 8 but then a great 9th wicket partnership of 64 runs between Ramesh (29) and Prahlad ( 38 ) took them almost home, but soon Rahul Pandey, the left arm spinner given them double blow in an over and IIT were bundled out for 149 and colts grabbed 4 league points.
