What is minority quota? Who will benefit from Minority quota in Uttar Pradesh? Effect of minority quota on Uttar Pradesh elections 2012, Advantages of 4.5% minority quota to muslims and other minorties in UP and India. Which political parties supported minority quota and which political parties opposed minority quota.
4.5% minority quota
to muslims and people belonging to other minority community with the already existing 27% quota for OBCs(other backward casts) is going to have a big effect on
Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2012
. If you area sking the question
what will congress benefit minority quota
, then let me tell you this move may very well trigger return of congress in Uttar Pradesh politics.
Effect of minority quota on Uttar Pradesh elections 2012
The decision to provide a
4.5% minority quota
within 27% OBC quota in jobs and university seats will be effective from January 1, 2012. This means that minorities can claim 4.5 out of every 100 government jobs and university seats. What is equally important as the quota itself is the timing of proving this quota. The decision to provide
4.5% quota to minorities
came just ahead of the
UP vidhan sabha elections 2012
. In Uttar Pradesh, 18% of the population is Muslim and is expected to play a vital role in reviving the fortunes of congress in Uttar Pradesh.
If you believe in statistics, then let me tell you, Muslims form most significant minority in Uttar Pradesh and play a significant role in deciding the fate of 120 of the UP 403 seats and 21 of the UP 80 Lok Sabha seats. This 4.5% minority quota has been based on 2001 census.
But this 4.5% minority quota within existing 27% reservation meant for OBCs has failed to please muslims in Uttar Pradesh. All India Muslim Forum, Nehalluddin Ahmed, termed it a political gimmick. Imam of Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed, said the reservation given is very less and will improve the situation of Muslims.

Thanks to the government that they are finally thinking about the Muslim community which i think live in really bad situation till after independence.
This is good moov to take Muslim community in the main stream of country so they can also become the part of development of INDIA as super power.
But reservation is not the only solution of this problom because according to different survay of govt. and nongovt. it is proved that large no.of needed families of S.C. S.T. O.B.C are still far away with the benefits of reservation. Only few families of these reserved catagories which are already grown getting the benefits again and again so i think the provision of reservation is now than far away from its destination.
It also increase the gap between evolved and nonevolved population of these reserved catagories. So i think there is now a need to think over this issue that what would be our aim of giving reservation.I think all political parties utilise the term reservation as a term to win elections. I gave some thoughts which should be taken account now-
1- Muslims community is used by different parties as a vote bank .Muslims on ground are far behind from the social, economical, technical development they need proper education because litracy is the major problom of them. The rapid increase in their population in lack of resorses act as barrier and it is anather drawback that their dharmguru and leaders not taken this in account.
2- It is absolutly right decision that Muslim community needs reservation and all should appreciate it but our political parties are in process to get the credit of it. So there is a need to set up a national commission of reservation which should keep eye on it and gave their suggestions regularily
