There is bad news for Uttar Pradesh's ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as per the survey conducted by STAR News-Nielsen, in 202 constituencies of Uttar Pradesh in November 2011. BSP enjoyed clear majority by winning 206 seats in 2007 vidan sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. However in 2012 assembly elections in UP, BSP is predicted to win only 117 seats, which is far less than their previous tally. However there is good news for Mulayam Singh's Samajwadi Party (SP) , which may emerge as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh. The total seat in UP assembly is 403, out of which SP is predicted to win 132 seats, far better than their previous tally of 97 seats in 2007 assembly elections in UP.

Congress party is certainly going to benefit from the effort put in by Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2012. As per survey, that effort can shift at least 24 percent non-Congress voters to the Congress. Congress will also benefit form its alliance with Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal. Congress-RLD alliance will win 85 seats in 2012 vidhan sabha elections in UP.

Seats won by RLD in Uttar pradseh assembly elections : 17
