Resolution for division of Uttar Pradesh (UP) into four smaller states was Purvanchal, Harit Pradesh, Bundelkhand and central UP was passed today in Uttar Pradesh state assembly by voice vote. Mayawati’s resolution of Uttar Pradesh divison is opposed by all political parties.

Resolution for division of UP into 4 new states has been ahas been passed today in Uttar Pradesh state assembly with voice vote. The proposal for Uttar Pradesh division was proposed by Mayawati few weeks back

Resolution for division of Uttar Pradesh passed

Though the proposal for division of Uttar Pradesh was opposed by all the political parties in Uttar Pradesh, however the resolution for division of Uttar Pradesh was passed today with voice vote in state assembly of Uttar Prdaesh. There is no prize in guessing that opposition termed it as political gimmick before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2012. And this also true upto great extent. However nothing can be done at state level now as the resolution has been passed. Now the ball is in the center's court to pass this resolution or reject it.

By passing this resolution Mayawati has killed two birds with one stone. First of she kept her promise of passing the resolution (even though, this move is not going to benefit general public) and second now congress government at centre has to decide what to do with this matter. If it rejects the proposal for division of Uttar Pradesh, it might have to face the wrath of public in Uttar Pradesh vidhan sabha elections 2012.
