Oppostion parties comments on division of Uttar Pradesh

There can be 'n' number of reasons of why opposition parties are against splitting of UP into 4 smaller states which was announced by Chief Minister Kumari Mayawati few weeks back. Though Many political has been supporting creation of small states at some point of time or the other but this announcement at this point of time is surely a political move, according to critics.

If the Congress party, whose government is at the center, supports this cause, it has to support the issue of creation of Telangana. According to congress, this move to divide Uttar Pradesh into 4 states is aimed at diverting the attention of common people from bad governance and corruption in Uttar Pradesh. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, said that, Congress supports smaller states but that has to be taken based of everybody will and good future in mind.

According to Surya Pratap Shahi of the Bharatiya Janata Party this step step was taken in hurry ahead of 2012 Assembly polls in UP without consulting the opposition. Samajwadi Party, leader Akhilesh Yadav termed it an "election stunt to fool the people." He also said that his party i.e Samajwadi party will oppose the resolution. According to him Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party always wanted divisions in society, and now, it wants to divide the state.

Regional party Rashtriya Lok Dal party which has been long calling for the division of the state said that "Mayawati has hijacked the issue of Rashtriya Lok Dal.
