Puran chandra vidya niketan is a school of Kanpur which participated in Kanpur's local basketball tournament and secured their place in the finals in both boys and girls groups. they are in the finals of this tournament second year in a row. they are emerging as the best basketball team in Kanpur as their junior age group teams won the tournament as well.

The 8th inter public school basketball tournament is in its final stage. The hosts Puran chandra vidya niketan School secured their place in the finals of the tournament third time in a row. On 4th of july they defeated Dr. Gaurhari Singhaniya Public School by 22 - 9 and made their way through to the finals. Tejeshwar Singh of Purnachandra Vidyaniketan School was adjudged man of the match for scoring maximum numbers of the baskets. he contributed six baskets. in the other semifinal, Swaraj India School defeated Gurusaraye School by 38 - 13 points. Harsh Diwedi of Swaraj India school was the man of the match for scoring most number of points. he scored 15 baskets. Asish Singh of Swaraj India school scored 7 baskets too. In first semifinal of girls group, Puranchandra vidya niketan school defeated Swaraj India school by 20 - 5 points. Deepika and Jigyasa of Puranchandra vidya niketan school scored 10 and 8 baskets respectively. Deepika was adjudged women of the match. In the other semifinal of girls group, Gurusaraye School defeated Methodist School by 22 - 15. Deeksha Mishra of Gurusaraye School scored 9 goals and was adjudged women of the match. Now the finals of the event will be played on Puranchandra vidya niketan sports ground on 11th of the august between Puranchandra Vidya niketan school and Swaraj India school in boys group and Puranchandra vidya niketan versus Gurusaraye School in girls group.
