Major Dhyan Chand Singh,better known as Dhyan Chand is remembered till date as one of the best hockey players India has ever had.He was a great centre forward and an intelligent captain.

Dhyan Chand was born on August 29,1905 in Allahabad and was interested in playing hockey since childhood,He played for Heroes club,jhansi which was one of the leading hockey clubs in India during that time.Dhyan chand started playing hockey seriously for army hockey team during 1922-26 after joining army in 1922.Indian government recognized dhyan chand's contribution to Indian and world hockey in 1956 with Padma Bhushan (India's third highest civilian honour).
