Bagpat is well known city in our epic Mahabharata and the it has its own history.

Bagpat is well known city in our epic Mahabharata and the it has its own history.This city was initially known as 'Vyagprastha' i.e Land of Tigers as there were a large number of tigers stayed here in history. As the time passed the name of the city changed to Bagpat and it became district in recent past in the year of 1991.
This city is popular for its Sugar production and previously known as Mandi. The main occupation of the people here is agriculture.

This city has produced many international shooter having their centre at Village Johri with Johri Rifle Club.

Gurukul Prabhat Ashram is the Combination of Sanskrit and Archery makes this rare seat of learning This Ashram is located in village Tikri, Bagpat.Life is tough here with children's sometime as young as 10.Vitrualy cut off from rest of the world for 11 years.
