7. Very first Revolt of Independence started from here in 1857 which is known as First War of Independence.

8. Meerut is the Education hub of Western UP and placed among the top Education cities.
9. Meerut is the capital of Padavas in Mahahbarata known as Hastinapur.

10. The name Meerut was derived from the Maya Rashtra. Mayasur was the Father in Law of Ravan well known Pandit of Ramayana. Mandodari, the wife of Ravana was the native of Meerut and hence city is also known as Ravan ki Sasural.
