Meerut is one of the historical city of India which has its own culture and has own place in our history. To begin with here are the facts about Meerut city:

1. Meerut is an ancient city having the second largest army cantonment of India

2. This is sixteenth largest metropolitan area city in India

3. Meerut is ranked 242 in 2020 in the list of Largest cities in the world.

4. In India's prospects this is the fourteenth fastest developing city.

5. Meerut has placed on rank 63 for fastest urban area growth in the world.

6. Meerut is a world class producer of Scissors and Cricket sports goods and hence sometimes called as City of Scissors and Sports Capital of India.

7. Very first Revolt of Independence started from here in 1857 which is known as First War of Independence.

8. Meerut is the Education hub of Western UP and placed among the top Education cities.
9. Meerut is the capital of Padavas in Mahahbarata known as Hastinapur.

10. The name Meerut was derived from the Maya Rashtra. Mayasur was the Father in Law of Ravan well known Pandit of Ramayana. Mandodari, the wife of Ravana was the native of Meerut and hence city is also known as Ravan ki Sasural.
