There are various pressure points in the body. The top of the hand and the skin between the thumb and the index finger are certain points that can be use to start contractions or to reduce pain during labor. Another pressure point is the inner side of the ankle that can induce labor. The practitioner rubs for a minute above the ankle bone about a width of four of the expectant mother's fingers. Bladder 32 is the last point used in maternity acupressure. A small indentation is found at the pressure point.

If the expectant mother or her partner is not so sure about the pressure point, the mother can pay attention about the feeling when the point is touched. The point should be tender before labor. After labor is induced, the sensation of the point will change.
