Will Mulayam Singh hold the key for Central Government?

Smajwadi Party Supremo, Mulayam Singh is in news ever since the elections were declared and the new government is formed in U.P. By handing over the reigns of the State to his son Akhilesh, he is now free to play a larger role in the national politics. His recent move to vote along with UPA on certain issues like NCTC indicates his leaning towards UPA rather than NDA. Political speculations see a berth for him in the Central Cabinet though he has categorically denied that.

HamaraUP members may express their views on the likely role that Mulayam Singh may play in salvaging the present central government with support from outside or by joining it.

    Hello Sukhdev sir,

Yes Indeed, it is evident that his aim is to cross the border of Uttar Pradesh and play a bigger role in national politics. This was the reason , why he made Akhilesh Yadav the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Also it will not be surprising if we see, Mulayam singh yadav being given a cabinet berth in Manmohan Singh government.

    Hello Mr. Shukla,

I agree with the point. Mulayam Singh is looking forward to a key role in central cabinet, thats the reason why he handed over the state responsibilities to his son. Also if Samajwadi Party did not win by majority they were going to get Congress support and consequently SP would have supported UPA. So, things were any which way going to be the same.

So, it will not be surprising at all if Mulayam Singh is a part of the present central cabinet.
