Aligarh City, the headquarters of Aligarh District, is situated in west-central Uttar Pradesh, to the south-east of Delhi. It is located on the plains between the Rivers Ganges and Yamuna . The famous Grand Trunk Road traverses through the city. Aligarh City is famous as an industrial city. It is also known as Taala Nagari (Locks City of India). Aligarh has always been an important business centre of Uttar Pradesh which is most famous for its locks industry. The locks that are produced in Aligarh are exported to different parts of the world.
